  • The greyhound is the second-fastest land animal. Second only to the cheetah, they can reach speeds of 45 mph in about three strides.
  • They are nicknamed “45 mph Couch Potatoes.” Despite their speed, they are not full of boundless energy. When not going full speed, they are almost catlike in the art of relaxation.
  • Greyhounds don’t sit very well. They are physically capable of sitting, but their musculature makes the position uncomfortable and unnatural for them. You can train your Greyhound to sit for a treat, but he won’t like it. You’ll rarely see a Greyhound sit down on its own volition.

Of Pandas Giant and Red

Being from the Washington, DC, area, I have always loved the giant pandas at the National Zoo, This goes back to Hsing-Hsing and Ling Ling, beginning in the early 1970s.

But I also love the lesser pandas–also known as the Red Panda. A couple of years ago, Rusty climbed a tree in his enclosure at The National Zoo, hopped over the fence, and went exploring. Zoo staff retrieved him later that evening,

I Watch Too Much TV! Here’s My Current Favorite Dog Commercial….

Let me first say that I have always loved the soft drink Dr Pepper–in moderation, of course. We had some at home, and it was a special treat on family road trips. I enjoyed the unusual taste. Now, I’m a big fan of Dr Pepper Cherry as well as the original.

But I digress. I remember some wonderful TV commercials for the product over the years. One of my aunts remembered an old jingle that went something like this:

“Drink Dr Pepper–you’ll enjoy life more!

Drink Dr Pepper at 10, and 2 and 4!”

The Coca-Cola Company has hit the mark again with its latest TV ad featuring a stray “mop dog” looking for a home. What a cutie! After my “Awww!” moment, I was immediately hooked. Once again, yearning to adopt a doggie appeared again full force. Again, I digress. Sigh… Anyway, here’s the video:

Enjoy!  I always look for it every time I watch something. I didn’t realize until later that the dog’s breed type is a Puli. Here’s some additional information.
